Setting Limits with Your Strong Willed Child
Being a Khan means that you’re pretty opiniated. Some more than others but at one level or another we Khan’s tend to have stubborn tendencies. My elder daughter exemplifies this beautifully. She’s very loving and caring but if she sets her mind to something it’s almost impossible to get her to change her stance.
This has lead to increased tension in the household. I’m a staunch believe in instilling proper manners (adab) within myself and my family members. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that he was sent to prefect human character. However, my wife and I have very different approaches to how to instill manners. My wife is lenient, I’m strict. Neither of our approaches are working so I decided to read this book as it seems that it has helped many others who are having similar issues with their children.
This book attempts to provide parents with an understanding of what the root causes may be along with the ability to adjust your lens as a parent towards your child’s behaviour. The key purpose of the book is to provide parents with the tools that will help them guide their child to the desired behaviour.
Review to come but thus far it was been very informative in providing me with techniques that have produced good results alhumdulilah.
