Imitation in the place of a teacher

I’ve always had a love for arabic/Islamic calligraphy but haven’t been able to find a teacher. So the best way I have figured to learn calligraphy is through imitation. I love the work of Wissam Shawkat. The following is my attempt at imitating one of his pieces. It’s close but not quite. I really need to work on getting the longer lines smoother.

The following is on a smaller medium (19 x 11 Bristol)

Imitation of Bismillah Wissam Small Medium

Medium: Bristol 2 Ply smooth (19×11)
Tools:
Hand Made Bamboo Dip Pens – Qalam
Material: India Ink and Acrylic
